As far as my research goes it seems like a lot of the producers and developers have been working on other projects. A big thing was GE3 had no re-release, rather adopting the modern style of downloadable updates and DLC.Īt this time, there has been no new announcement of a God Eater 4, marking GE3 as the latest game in the series. Other than that it retains much of the same features as the other games in the series. There are also some "extended" missions wherein you actually have to do multiple hunts with a "camping" screen in the middle where you can decide what each character does that night. Gameplay wise, GE3 added some new weapon types, it added: "Accelerator Triggers" which were abilites you could equip that allowed you to get passive buffs if you met certain criteria during a battle. Though in truth the ruined setting can make it hard to tell at times, though it's usually more evident in characters names and such. God Eater 3 was the first game to take place outside of Japan but instead in Europe. It also had the shortest time between it's JP only release and a WW release (2 months). Unlike the previous 2 God Eater games, God Eater 3 was not released on Vita or PSP, instead releasing on PS4/PC at launch and then Switch a few months later. God Eater 3 (PS4, PC, Switch, JP: 2018, WW: 2019)Įdit: Note this is the only game on this list to release around/after Monster Hunter World, it's being covered since we're covering the whole series even though it's not "Old". Unlike Monster Hunter, God Eater was set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, the first two games in particular taking place in Japan.Ī big aspect of God Eater was that it was generally a more arcadey experience in the sense that your movement was much faster, there wasn't the weight of MH (comparing this to primarily the weightier older MH games here), there was also less overall variety of weapon types and not very extensive movesets on their own, you can also dodge in the air and even do aerial attacks with all weapons. Similar to MH itself, all the hunts could be taken on with up to 4 players. It also featured AI companions, something that would actually be featured in many MH Clones and only recently appearing in MH itself. It had the unique gimmick of the fact you had a both a melee weapon and a ranged weapon you could swap between during combat, overall called the "God Arc". Similar to MH, it featured the staple of a Mission Based structure as you work from a hub area, killing massive monsters (called Aragami) for parts to craft weapons and gear. God Eater, assuming I did my research right, was the first "major" MH Clone to release. God Eater Resurrection (PS4, PC, Vita, JP: 2015, WW: 2016)
